THAILAND - Day one of Propak Asia 2007 kicked off with an opening ceremony graced by the Thai Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry Mr Damri Sukhotanang.

ProPak Asia 2007, the 15th International Processing, Filling and Packaging, Technology exhibition and conference for the Asian Region, opened on Wednesday, 13 June with a ribbon cutting ceremony graced by Mr Damri Sukhotanang; Deputy Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Industry

During his opening address, Mr Sukhotanang said that Propak Asia provides an opportunity for the region’s manufacturers to access world leading technology to ensure the highest possible standards of production are achieved for Thailand’s expanding export industries.

He attributed the Thai processing and packaging industries’ tremendous growth over the past decade to the success of the food sector. “The value of food export last year was US$13 billion, and Thailand is the largest food exporter in Asia after China with about half of all production sold to overseas markets.

“The rapid expansion of Thailand’s food manufacturing industry would not have been possible without a high level of commitment to investment in international standards, technology and production.

ProPak Asia 2007, a trade show which gathers entrepreneurs and Industry professionals from more than 650 companies and from 30 countries around the world, has on exhibition machines showcasing the latest technology and innovation for food processing and packing.

Incorporating Pharma Tech Asia, Drink Tech Asia, Plas Tech Asia, Can Tech Asia, Seafood Tech Asia and, new this year, Lab&Test Asia, the exhibition also hosts a range of conferences and seminars for the processing and packaging industry which are supported by the Thai Packaging Center, Food Science & Technology Association of Thailand (FoSTAT), the Department of Fisheries, and Brewing group.
