THAILAND -
The inaugural Pack Print International 2007 has had a promising start with high visitor turnout and business transactions conducted.

According to Messe Dusseldorf Asia, the volume and quality

of visitor turnout and business transactions conducted at Pack Print International 2007, held in Bangkok, Thailand from 26 – 29 April 2007, have been positive indicators of the exhibition’s success.

The inaugural event, co-organised by Messe Dusseldorf, the Thai Packaging Association and the Thai Printing Association, aims to be a key regional industry event in Asia. And, agreed all three co-organisers, the event has gotten off to a good start.

thaiprintpresident2.jpg Anek Vidhayasirinun, President of the Thai Packaging Association, said, “The three organizers have worked closely to make the show a great success for exhibitors and visitors. The level of technology on display has really impressed me.”

According to Kriengkrai Thiennukul, President of the Thai Printing Association, it was important to the organizers that Pack Print International be a truly international show which will raise Thailand up to become the printing hub of Asia.

Mr Thiennukul said, “The success of the show will be a key indicator to the government of the importance of the printing industry to the national economy.”

So far, Thai Deputy Minister of Industry, Piyabutr Cholvijarn, has promised, during his address at the opening ceremony on 26 April, that funds from the country’s 2008 financial budget have been allocated to the continued operation of testing and training facilities for both the printing and packaging industry.

Gernot Ringling, Managing Director, Messe Dusseldorf Asia, said that the exhibition organizer was happy with the show’s results so far.

“We've seen the big boys like Canon, Kodak and Mitsubishi conclude deals at Pack Print International”, Ringling said, pleased that the exhibition has helped facilitate business deals, such as Canon’s sale of 10 press units by the end of the second day.

He added, “A lot of big names have taken notice of the show and we hope they too will see it as a springboard for packaging and printing in Asia.”

With a return scheduled for 2009 in Thailand, Pack Print International, said Ringling, will continue to grow and promises to be even bigger and better.
