THAILAND - Agfa Graphics is featuring an entry-level CtP (Computer to plate) system at Pack Print International 2007, held in Bangkok, Thailand, from 26 29 April 2007, to increase CtP penetration in the region. In the hope of gaining market share against the traditional analog Currently in Asia, CtP penetration is only at about 10-20% in comparison to the global average of 60%. One of the reasons for this is the low cost of analog plates in the region, though this is now increasing due to high silver and aluminum prices. Peter Buytaert, President, Agfa Graphics Asia, said that the company wants to educate customers in Asia on the benefits of CtP. He explained, For example, quality is better through higher resolution, productivity increases and the process is more environmentally friendly as less waste is generated. While acknowledging that environmental awareness is not that prevalent in Asia at the moment, Buytaert said, I believe this situation will change in the future. Exposing newcomers to the benefits of digital platemaking, Acento LP only requires entry-level investment cost for access to digitalization. The machine has a new imaging head with an 84 channel laser diode for reliable quality in platemaking, as well as a simplified mechanical design for dependable through-put. Acento LF features imaging speeds of up to 11 plates per hour for plate sizes ranging from 450 x 370mm to 1,060 x 820 mm (B1 or 8 up format). With semi-automatic plate loading and manual unloading capabilities, it reduces cost as well as floor space requirements. |
