Malaysia - Reliance Labels of Malaysia has taken the first steps to move into Flexo for its future Label production requirements. Traditionally, Reliance has chosen flat bed type letterpress machines. Despite the higher costs of tooling, the company has been impressed by the benefits of higher production rates and improved quality in Flexo. Following research from Labelexpo Asia and a visit to the U.K. to see actual production environments, the company selected Focus Label Machinery as its partner. Focus was responsible for the total package to ensure Reliance was able to go into immediate production, and provide tooling, installation, and training in Malaysia. Reliance selected the F250 press provided with Turn Bar and U.V. Dryer for varnishing applications. Focus chose to supply some magnetic Tooling with the press because of the lower cost of flexible Dies which Reliance said were comparable to locally manufactured Flat Bed Die Tooling. Colin Elison, who had installed the press in Malaysia, commented that Reliance Labels would also benefit from low import and transport cost of Flexible Dies and added that this follows 3 similar installations in Malaysia since Labelexpo. |
