Oji Paper to build mill in China

China - Oji Paper, Japan plans to build a large greenfield integrated pulp and paper mill in China, which will eventually produce 1.2m tpy of coated and uncoated freshsheet.  


The company has signed a memorandum of understanding with a development agency in Nantong city, Jiangsu province, to buy land for the new mill. The first phase of the project comprises a 600,000tpy coated printing paper machine, slated to start up by the end of 2006 at a cost of USD510m.

 The project requires approval from the Chinese authorities and Oji will submit applications for permits.
