21 September 2006

CHINA - Maxim Group, one of Asia's leading package print converters has installed a Mark Andy 4150 flexo line at its plant in Shanghai.  The new press will boost production of swing tags and labels for its diverse customer portfolio that includes GlaxoSmithKline, PUMA, The Children's Place, Disney, and Woolworth.

The 4150, with a 406mm web width, is an eight-colour UV press fitted with turner bars and Tools & Production (T&P) punching units.  The press sale was represented by United Printing Equipment & Materials, which is the exclusive distributor of Mark Andy and Comco machine sales and service in China.

"The 4150 was chosen it for its ability to print on a variety of substrates used by Maxim, including art paper, paperboard, alufoil, and plastic films such as PET and PVC." Said Benny Shaw, Managing Director of United Printing. With an operational speed up to 150 m/min and 610 mm repeat length, the Mark Andy is Maxim's first step into the rapidly growing world of flexo in China.

Arthur Ho, Vice President, Maxim group, commented, "We have established an excellent working partnership with United Printing, which represents, in our view, the world's leading manufacturer of narrow web flexo technology.  As we build up our flexo division, we will look to Mark Andy for technical help in developing our business."

Peter Tupman ,Tools & Production, Sales Manager, said, "Maxim needed two of our units to produce cleanly punched holes with effective waste removal while running the Mark Andy line at top speed."

Founded in 1973 in Taiwan, Maxim has pioneered much of China's development of labels, folding boxes and barcode stickers, many of which are now produced on a 'service bureau' basis.  Most products are of an OEM nature and the company offers an 'e-business' solution through its offices in Taiwan, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and the USA.
