With growing awareness of the need to engage the elderly in this increasingly aging world, as well as ensuring that people with disabilities can participate in society as equals, Accessible Design is a worldwide emerging design concept that's gaining in importance.
A common challenge facing the global packaging industry is the development of packages that are accessible (ie easy to open, easy to handle, easy to see, etc) to more people, including older persons and persons with disabilities.
Ease of opening in packaging, for example, adds more value to the usability of packaged products in addition to enhancing sealing performance. Tactile information could be effectively used for labelling for people with visual disabilities.
This seminar will provide more understanding on the concept of Accessible Design, how to develop accessible packaging designs, and the role of international standards.
Most of the speakers are experts and members of the working group WG9 "Packaging - Accessible Design for Packaging" of ISO/TC 122 Packaging.
This event is co-organized by The Department of Packaging and Materials Technology, Faculty of Agro-Industry, Kasetsart University; Japan Packaging Institute (JPI); Thai Packaging Association (TPA); and Thai Industrial Standards Institute (TISI).
