CHINA - The 4th edition of Luxe Pack Shanghai was successfully held on 29-30 March 2011 at the Shanghai International Convention Center, demonstrating its international influence and attracting the world’s top packaging companies.
Exhibitors gathered from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, America, Russia, France, Germany, Britain, Sweden and many other countries and regions. 29% were American and European, 43% were Chinese manufacturers and 28% were from other Asian countries or regions.
In addition, the exhibition also attracted numerous professional visitors from various sectors linked to the luxury industry, including cosmetics. perfumes, jewelry, watches, wine, fine food, health care products, tea, fashion accessories, household items, gifts, stationery etc, in Asia, Europe and even the Middle East.
Concurrent events
This year, the Luxe Pack Innovation Forum took place during Luxe Pack Shanghai for the first time. An international platform for the most innovative idea and products, it received the active support form exhibitors and was well-attended by participants. A total of 22 exhibitors participated in the forum, discussing 28 innovative and sustainable products with participants.
Ing Wen Precision Ent. Co Ltd (Tai Wan) demonstrated its leak proof ON/OFF lockable system perfume bulb atomizer, which has been patented in many countries including USA, France, Italy, Germany, UK, Japan and China. Well-known French design agency R’Pure Studio discussed a secondary packaging specifically created for Remy Martin’s most premium cognac – Centaure de Diamant, while a dress design for perfume bottle from Seram and Swarovski drew the crowd's attention
Euro Cosmetic Asia explained the environmental advantage of airless packaging by showing the Brio Airless Pouch Dispenser, while CYP Specialty Paper (Shanghai) Co Ltd talked about the Wood-free Bamboo PH Neutral Paper it specially designed for this forum.
In addition, nine professional conferences and one symposium were held during the two-day exhibition, discussing the fast-growing Chinese luxury market and the branding and packaging aspects that companies need to be aware of.
Amongst them, Francoise Yidan Li, Co-Founder and Vice-President of SEYKO, analyzed the regulatory and administrative constraints for cosmetic products in China. Martine Leherpeur, Founder of Martine Leherpeur Conseil, together with Pinault of Cognac Camus, Ke of L’Herborist and De Brabant of CEIBS discussed how Chinese traditions influence and create original ways to develop Luxury packaging.
At a special symposium hosted by Asia-focused daily online news magazine PackWebasia.com, Wang Yuande, Director of the China Technology & Standardization Research Office, explained China’s newly implemented Excessive Packaging Law. PackWebasia.com publisher and Asian Packaging Market Expert Stuart Hoggard set the restrictions against the background of packaging growth in China and the three key laws that impact the industry: The Circular Economy Law and The Method for Administration of Recycling Packaging Materials.
Staffan Sjöberg of Swedish paper manufacturer Iggesund Paperboard AB followed with an explanation on the practical application of sustainability across the entire lifecycle of paperboard packaging. The symposium closed with a question-and-answer session led by Geoff Giddens, Food Packaging Regional Associate Director Pepsico, who moderated the event.
