Vetaphone has expanded its treating capabilities by producing a newly-designed TOU13 treater unit with a treater width of nine meters. The unit is supplied to a major Asian BOPP film manufacturer. This advanced treater unit is included in the company’s standard product range with applications up to 10 meters. The TOU 13 treater unit equipped with PF9 multifin electrode systems, it is cable of a discharging 48kW nett corona power over the complete web. The treater unit is delivered with a NIP-roller, which prevents reverse-side treatment and ensures a perfect drive. The NIP pressure is controlled pneumatically via the operator panel. The State-Of-The-Art treater unit features two Vetaphone CP5 Generators powering up to 24 kW each. Each CP5 generator has proportional power control related to the line speed. The set-up of power is easily achieved either with the actual power output in kW or the energy delivered to the substrate in Watt * min / m2. The CP5 generators have self-diagnostics and both internal and external functions are continuously checked by the computerised monitoring system. The generators are equipped with a modem allowing remote diagnostics. Furthermore are the generators equipped with Vetaphone's unique and highly successful WET-Start system. This ensures that any moisture accumulating during shut-down periods is progressively dried out and does not affect start-up. This gives the possibility of immediate production following holidays and maintenance periods. The treater unit is delivered together with Vetaphone's highly advanced control module TF450 that can be mounted either locally or remotely. It has a TFT graphical overview of the complete treater unit and generators, making trouble shooting an easy task. Vetaphone's CP5 generator and the control module TF450 will both be on display at K-2001 in Düsseldorf stand 10A59. As is usual within the film manufacturing industry it often works non-stop around the clock. The Vetaphone equipment is, therefore, designed to cope with minimum maintenance stops, even at production speeds up to 500 m/min. On this particular application, there will only be a maintenance stop once every six months. Vetaphone's dedication to improved design will ensure that the criteria of minimum "down time" is met. Selection of Vetaphone's TOU13 treater and CP5 Generators is the latest in a row of three Corona-plus treaters sold to this major Asian BOPP film manufacturer within half the last six months. Managing director Mr. Frank Eisby concludes, “This latest order shows how dominant Vetaphone remain in Asia as well as maintaining a superior presence in the World market”.
